Comfort Energy finalises the acquisition of Q8Mazout, looking beyond Belgium’s borders to access and consolidate other markets

Energy group Comfort Energy has finalised its acquisition of Q8Mazout Belgium and Luxembourg, after having received approval from the Belgian Competition Authority (BMA). With this acquisition, the independent energy service provider strengthens its leadership position in Belgium in addition to taking its first steps to international expansion and growth.

On 7 January 2021, Comfort Energy announced the acquisition of Q8Mazout. Comfort Energy thus strengthens its local roots in addition to stepping up its European growth ambitions. As a supplier of fuel oil products, Q8Mazout mainly operates in Wallonia and Luxembourg. On 6 May, BMA gave the green light for the completion of the acquisition today. Comfort Energy thus strengthens its number one position in Belgium, while also becoming the second-largest player in Luxembourg following the acquisition of Q8Mazout.

Although the acquisition of Q8Mazout is the biggest ever by far, Comfort Energy already has considerable experience. Having made more than 70 successful acquisitions in the past 20 years, Comfort Energy has a proven track record of successful integrations. The acquisition of Q8Mazout will enlarge the team, bolstering the group’s national and international expansion. The expertise of both teams will be combined in the larger Comfort Energy Group.
