“This partnership puts us in an excellent position to meet the necessary and growing demand for more sustainable liquid fuels. Blue Diesel already offers companies the opportunity to become sustainable step by step because it is immediately available and affordable,” says our CEO Tom Lambert.

Blue Diesel as a necessary and sustainable fuel

Blue Diesel is formulated from two ingredients: an HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) and the highest quality diesel. HVO is a hydrotreated (vegetable) waste oil. Frying fat is an example of a waste oil. The higher the percentage of HVO in Blue Diesel, e.g. Blue Diesel 50, the more sustainable the fuel. Blue Diesel is EN590 standardised and Future Fuels is an ISCC-certified (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) company. Therefore, it meets the European criteria of sustainability. To be clear: Blue Diesel is not and does not contain biodiesel.

“Right now, it is impossible for a lot of companies to make the switch to renewable energy right away. It is too expensive or the new technologies are not yet on point. That’s why we believe in Blue Diesel: It’s a more sustainable solution available right now. Companies can gradually reduce their CO2 emissions in an affordable and attainable manner. We are going to be able to provide our clients with even better assistance in taking a well-considered step towards more sustainable activities,” according to Tom Lambert.

The figures prove that Blue Diesel does reduce CO2 emissions. Future Fuels’ total HVO sales cut out no less than 111 million kilograms of CO2 in 2022. This is comparable to the annual CO2 emissions of over 13,000 Dutch citizens.

Blue Diesel and HVO are suitable for all diesel engines. Even better, engines and boilers do not need to be modified. This is also an affordable and viable solution that can be deployed in the short term for our customers who heat their homes with liquid fuel.

Shared vision with Future Fuels

Thanks to our shared sustainability vision, we can do better in accomplishing our common goals in this field. Synergies in marketing, distribution, and technology development will strengthen the market position of both companies.

“Together, we are poised to accelerate the sustainability of the liquid fuels market, not only in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, but across Europe. Comfort Energy Group’s market leadership and innovative approach make us a gamechanger and allow us to achieve strong growth,” concludes Auke Wijmenga, CEO Future Fuels.
